Have you ever experienced EXTREMELY slow loading times after importing the .com blog files? I notice in the lower left corner of the browser window all of the .com files being transferred. Any fix for that?

Dawn, I have not had any problems with importing the database ( content) from a WordPress.com site to a WOrdPRess.org site as long as the WordPress.org site was set up properly. So if you just set up the .org site you may want to check that you have it set up correctly. SOmetimes people skip steps if they are doing the install by hand and that can create problems. Or they are running a WordPress.org site on a server of a hosting company that does not have the best software and configuration to run WordPress site. Go Daddy has particulary bad performance issues running WordPress sites. I recommend Bluehost.

      Hi,

I have experienced the exact same problem and I am (now) sure that I followed all the steps. I suspect that it may be due to the fact that I told wordpress to export all the attachments from wp.com, but now I don't know how to import the problem without installing wordpress again. Have you fixed the problem? I would appreciate if you could share your solution with me.
      S.

This artivle has been VERY helpful and I think you. I have a question. On this part:

"# Go to your new site’s dashboard to Tools – Import and find the file on your desktop to import into your new site. Be sure you check the option when it presents itself to bring in all attachments."

When you say my new sites dashboard, do i just login to wordpress.org? Where is the dashboard there?
