Spring seems to mark the kickoff of fund raising season with this walk or that run happening every weekend.
Given the tough economy, the demand for community services is on the rise while the supply of contributors continues to decline. Non profits must find creative ways to reach potential donors.
Having just wrapped up our very own ‘Buy Kwanza Hall a Real Camera Phone’ campaign, we thought it might be a good time to post our friend Amani Channel’s ‘Lessons From My First Social Media Fundraiser‘. In his post, Amani recaps what worked and what didn’t as he used Social Media to raise money for the March of Dimes in memory of his twin sons, Rico and Jordan, who were born prematurely in 2006.
Bottom line – tweet like mad.
My favorite comment is from the reader who cited that Amani was able to raise more money from his computer than a team of mom’s who planned and held a traditional event.
